A team of students from the School of Agro-Industry, Mae Fah Luang University — consisting of Mr. Patipat Yanabut, Mr. Panjaphum Sringam, and Ms. Nisara Namrahat — won an award in the “Health Promotion Innovation” competition under the regional project The Health Promotion Innovation Playground, organized by the National Innovation Agency (NIA) in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth or สสส.).
The event was held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Chiang Rai. It featured student representatives from various institutions across Northern Thailand who had advanced from the preliminary round to present their health innovation concepts in an intensive pitching session.
The team presented their project titled:
"APPLICATION OF BIOCHAR-COATED NITROGEN FERTILIZER FOR CONTROLLED NITROGEN LOSS AND REDUCTION OF AMMONIA EMISSIONS CONTRIBUTING TO PM2.5 POLLUTION"
The project focuses on developing biochar-coated fertilizer as an innovation to reduce nitrogen loss and mitigate ammonia emissions, which are known contributors to PM2.5 air pollution.
The team was selected as one of five regional representatives from the North to advance to the national-level HP Innovator Camp, receiving a 10,000 THB development grant along with a certificate of recognition, supporting them in further developing their project for real-world community impact.
This project aims to enhance the capacity of university students in creating and developing health-focused innovations by integrating creativity, technology, and community participation—ultimately contributing to a healthier and more sustainable society.
