On Friday, July 25, 2025, the School of Agro-Industry, Mae Fah Luang University, hosted the AI-MFU Open House 2025 for 60 teachers and students from Meng Rai Wittayakom School, Phan Pittayakom School, and Chiang Rai Wittayakom School. The event took place at the Science and Technology Laboratory Building (S4). The open house focused on Phu Lae pineapple, a GI (Geographical Indication) product of Chiang Rai province, as a case study for learning about the agro-industry. Activities included:
- Quality and maturity assessment of pineapples using scientific instruments.
- Processing of ready-to-eat fresh-cut pineapples using minimally processing technology.
- Production of pasteurized beverages from Phu Lae pineapple to add value and extend shelf life.
The AI-MFU Open House 2025 demonstrated how local raw materials can be used as a scientific lesson, allowing students to see examples of value creation for local agricultural products throughout the supply chain. The event was organized by Asst. Prof. Dr. Rattapon Saengrayap, Dr. Sirirung Wongskul, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rungarun Sasantayart, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suttiporn Pinitsuwan, along with 4th-year students from the Postharvest Technology and Logistics program and the Food Innovation and Technology program.
