Jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic collaboration

The School of Agro-Industry, Mae Fah Luang University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sutthiwal Setha, Dean of the School, together with the Chiang Rai Area Excise Office represented by Ms. Nonglak Kusol, held discussions and jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for academic collaboration. The purpose is to develop a certificate (non-degree) program initiative to meet the needs of the production sector in line with Thailand’s higher education reform policy for the year 2026 (B.E. 2569).

The program, titled “Commercial Alcoholic Beverage Production and Regulatory Compliance,” was officially approved “passed” by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, on February 19, 2026 (B.E. 2569).

The curriculum includes academic knowledge, practical technical skills in fermentation, distillation, and the development of alcoholic beverage production processes with distinctive characteristics, as well as quality and safety analysis of alcoholic beverages. The program aims to enhance employability skills, enabling learners to produce and distribute products safely and in full compliance with regulations and legal requirements, while increasing their competitiveness in the creative beverage market.

The project coordinator for this program is Asst. Prof. Dr. Rungarun Sasanatayart, School of Agro-Industry. The first cohort will admit 40 community liquor entrepreneurs from Chiang Rai Province. The training will last four months and is free of charge. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate from Mae Fah Luang University.
